About Us

Growing Wild Nursery is located in southeastern North Carolina. We grow native plants from the Atlantic coastal plain and Sandhills regions, for our customers to create attractive, sustainable gardens, that feed and shelter wildlife.

Location

We’re 30 miles north of Wilmington, in northern Pender County. The surrounding region is part of the Atlantic coastal plain, famous for its beautiful, rare, and unique plants.

Our passion

While we love growing plants, what really excites us is exploring remote places to collect seeds and observe plants in their natural habitats. Plant expeditions occur year round and help us learn how and where to use native plants in the garden.

Sustainability

Dedicated to becoming more sustainable, we’re constantly looking for ways to decrease our impact on the environment. Reducing our use of water, fossil fuels, and planting more natives are some of the ways we’re trying to make a difference.

Background

Growing Wild Nursery was created in 2006 by Alistair Glen, after a decade of studying and propagating the native plants of southeastern North Carolina. Apart from some seasonal help, Alistair is responsible for everything, from sowing seeds to pulling orders.
