Native Plants for Dry Sandy Soil

The following coastal plain native plants will grow in dry sandy soil and can be planted to create gardens that reduce the need for water. It should be noted that some soils are just too dry to support plant life.

When planting into dry sandy soil, keeping plants well watered during establishment is essential. This can take as little as a couple of months for perennials, to several years for trees, shrubs, and vines.
