Sarracenia flava variety flava is sometimes referred to as "typical" because it’s the most common variety of yellow pitcher plant within its natural range. It can be identified by the present of red veins on the underside of the lid, around the pitcher opening, and on the column connecting the lid to the pitcher. The veining can extend down the outside of the pitcher, but it's never as striking as in variety ornata.
Native habitat and range
Wet savannas, bogs, and around the margins of acidic freshwater ponds. Variety flava grows naturally along the Atlantic coastal plain from southeastern Virginia to Georgia and is absent or extremely rare along the gulf coast.
Source and origin
Plants were grown from seed collected with permission from a savanna in Pender County, North Carolina.
All plants are genetically different and flowering size. The amount of veining may vary between plants which is probably a result of natural hybridization between variety maxima and variety cuprea.

We guarantee our plants to be healthy, ready for planting, and correctly named. We are not able to guarantee whether a plant will grow in your garden as there are too many circumstances that are beyond our control.
On rare occasions, a plant shipped dormant may fail to emerge from its dormancy. If this happens, please let us know.
If you are concerned about a plant, please contact us within 14 days to let us know. If we can’t help you make it grow, we’ll send you a new plant or issue a refund.Returns
