How to grow
Grow fragrant ladies’-tresses in sun or shade. A constantly moist to wet soil will reward you with lush, strong growth. Will tolerate the occasional dry spell, but plants will become stunted with extended drought.
Care and maintenance
No special care is needed when planting in wet soil. Just keep weeds and larger plants from invading its space.
Where to plant
At the edge of ponds, damp woods, pitcher plant bogs, and even in containers sitting in a saucer of water.
When to plant
Plant anytime through the growing season and remember to keep plants watered until they get established.
18 and 24 inches apart when planting in a group.
When will my plant flower?
Plants planted in spring and summer will bloom in the fall.
Native habitat and range
Grows in swamps and marshes along the coastal plain from southeastern Virginia to Texas. Plants can sometimes be submerged underwater for several weeks at a time.
